Austin is one of many cities included in a one-off screening of the Dead's classic film "The Grateful Dead Movie." While many of you may have seen a scratchy VHS tape of the film at some point in high school or college (or a DVD, if you're a youngin'), the concert film has not seen a wide theatrical release since 1977.
The movie, which documents the legendary band's five-night stand in Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco in October 1974 before they took a two-year hiatus, features never-before-seen interviews with Jerry Garcia and Bob Weir.
The movie will screen at 7 p.m. at Tinseltown USA Pflugerville, Cinemark Hill Country Galleria, Southpark Meadows, Regal Arbor Cinema, Regal Metropolitan and Cinemark Cedar Park.
For you Deadheads looking for some classic Dead tunes played in Austin, the bands has released a live double-disc from the band November 15, 1971 return to the Municipal Auditorium.
