'Cyborg' Remake Coming from Original Film's Director Albert Pyun?

There's been plenty of remakes that we've complained about in the past, but when a filmmaker is looking to remake his own film over 20 years later, should we be nearly as upset? That's a decision you'll have to make for yourself as AICN has learned director Albert Pyun, the man behind the 1989 martial arts/sci-fi action flick Cyborg has been developing a remake of that very film. Starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, the story follows a martial artist escorting a half-human, half cyborg woman in a plague-infested future whose programming contains a possible cure for a plague threatening to wipe out the entire population of Earth.

Of course, the woman is kidnapped by the martial artist's evil nemesis while they are en route to her Atlanta headquarters and that leads him right into a lion's den of sadomasochistic torture and torment. If you want, you can ...
