Off - Centered Film Fest Re-Cap
Last weekend was the Off-Centered Film Fest and I had some firsts, including my first viewing of "Strange Brew."
The film payed as part of Alamo Drafthouse's Rolling Roadshow at Republic park on Thursday. There were some tasty local brews on tap. They weren't Labatts, but they sufficed.
This was also my first RRShow experience
On Friday night I saw "Wet Hot American Summer" for the first time as well.
Michael Cera was at the screening and he seemed much nicer to his fans than he was in OUR last encounter. I still blame his bandmate from Mister Heavenly.
MC was with a chick who he was also spotted catching a flick with earlier in the week and dining at La Condesa on Saturday. My guess is that in the two appearances he's made in Austin with his band thus far this year, he realized what a kick ass town Austin is and decided he should spend some more time here. Perhaps the little lady has something to do with it too.

I encountered Joe the following day at a media mixer and told him about my previous encounter with Michael Cera and his bandmate. He said that he's never heard of Mister Heavenly so there was no reason for anyone to be a jealous douche(or something like that). Thank you, Joe!
Fellow "WHAS" star Ken Marino was also at the mixer.
The two were kind enough to take this off-focused picture with me.
At the media mixer held at The Highball, off-centered ales from Dogfish Head Craft Brewery were paired with local cheeses from Antonelli's Cheese Shop.

Kanye West's Water-Bottle Tweet Wins O Music Award

It's hard to believe Kanye West has been tweeting for less than a year. The pioneering rapper is just, well, so damn good at it. Suffice it to say, our world has improved immeasurably since Yeezy signed on to the micro-blogging site and began dropping his patented brand of 140-character knowledge.
That's why it's no surprise 'Ye had an entire category devoted to his tiny drops of knowledge at the first-ever O Music Awards. It was a tough competition, to be sure, and the finalists for the Golden Kanye award were all humorous, witty and classically 'Ye, but only one could win, and the champ is a burst that sums up the enigmatic rapper perfectly.
"I hate when I'm on a flight and I wake up with a water bottle next to me like oh great now I gotta be responsible for this water bottle," Kanye wrote back in October. We couldn't agree more. What an awesome and weird responsibility to be given stewardship of in-flight liquid refreshment.
But it was that pearl of wisdom that beat out other contenders, including: "dating models I had to learn to like small dogs and cigarettes," "Is the Versace sofa to hood? Might need to cover it in plastic!!!," "I always misspell genius SMH! The Irony!," "I have decided to become the best rapper of all time! I put it on my things to do in this lifetime list!" and "I specifically ordered Persian rugs with cherub imagery!!! What do I have to do to get a simple Persian rug with cherub imagery uuuuugh."
That's just the latest in a slew of early O Music Awards that have already been handed out. Stay tuned all this week for more award announcements.

Schwarzenegger Will Return as Learning Computer That's Now in Its 60s
Fulfilling his promise to "be back" in a way far more pandering and monetarily-motivated than anyone ever imagined, Arnold Schwarzenegger is attached to reprise his role in the Terminator franchise, albeit now as a visibly older robot whose flesh loosely hangs as a sorrowful reminder of his ever-declining muscle mass. As was reported before, Fast Five director Justin Lin is still the most likely candidate to direct this next chapter, and Terminator rights holder Pacificor is shopping the Arnold/Lin package around today, with Universal, Sony and Lionsgate, and CBS Films all reportedly "looking hard" at it, presumably hoping that staring long enough will eventually reveal some sense of how we've reached a point in the movie industry that hiring a man that qualifies for a $2 off senior discount at SuperCuts to play a deadly learning computer is somehow one of our most sought-after, likely-to-profit deals. If they're going to do it, they'll have to act relatively fast, though--and not just because Arnold's not getting any younger. The rights will revert back to James Cameron in 2018, and at that point another deal would have to be worked out if Pacificor wants to keep cranking out these goddammers.
